Narrative feedback over grades

The Results Only Learning Environment does away with useless points, percentages and letter grades, in favor of narrative feedback. This formative assessment tool encourages learning, as it eliminates the punishment that accompanies traditional grades. This type of assessment gets students thinking about learning outcomes, and makes them want to return to activities and projects and make the changes that are necessary to demonstrate mastery. Isn't it time for education to do away with grades, so real learning can take place.
